Help Is Coming For First Home Buyers – Lock In Your Home Buying Coach Today

  • Australian Government’s Help to Buy Scheme to make home ownership more achievable with shared equity.

  • 10,000 places available each year, Help to Buy is helping thousands of Australians make the step into home ownership.

  • MyFirstHome.com.au Home Buying Coaches can help take the frustration out of the process.

Following today’s announcement of the new Help to Buy Scheme, aspiring first-home buyers are set to receive a major helping hand from the Australian Government. The scheme officially opens for applications on the 5th of December 2025.

To help Australians make the most of the scheme and work through the process, Oliver Hume Property Group has introduced MyFirstHome.com.au, a comprehensive platform designed specifically to support first home buyers in navigating the complexities of the property market.

MyFirstHome.com.au provides access to dedicated Home Buyer Coaches, who will guide buyers through every step of the process, from building a deposit to exploring eligible properties and applying for government grants such as Help to Buy.

The Federal Government’s initiative will support up to 10,000 households nationwide per year, making home ownership a reality for more Australians.

Under the scheme, the Federal Government will contribute up to 40% of the purchase price for new homes and 30% for existing homes, dramatically reducing the upfront costs of buying a first home. Buyers will only need a minimum 2% deposit, and Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) will be removed, significantly easing financial barriers for eligible applicants.

Eligibility criteria will include income thresholds, Australian citizenship or permanent residency, and being a first home buyer who does not currently own property. The shared equity model means the Government will share in the ownership of the home proportionate to its contribution, with buyers able to increase their share over time.

What are the benefits of the Help to Buy Scheme?

The Help to Buy Scheme has many benefits.

  • Lower deposit than the 5% Deposit Scheme

  • Lower serviceability requirements than the 5% Deposit Scheme

    • Lower serviceability requirement = lower income needed to reach loan serviceability requirements
